I usually field a lot of queries by chat and email about the difference between CFA and CFP. The difference is certainly more than one letter :-). I have explained the difference below:
The Certified Financial Planners are serious financial professionals who work as consultants to individuals on retirement planning, stock investing and other financial planning. On the other hand, the Certified Financial Analysts work with various financial institutions, like banks, mutual funds, pension funds and insurance companies with focus on stocks and market analysis, advising institutions to make corrrect invest decisions.
While a CFP deals with comprehensive financial planning for individuals, Certified Financial Analysts work with investment portfolios.
A CFP is a planner and seen in a generalist role, while CFA is an analyst, where the role is more specialised.
